Macrame Craft Business Owner - Jess

I'm Jess

I’m 29, and I’m from a beautiful town in North Yorkshire.

I am a nurse and spent 3 years working in neonatal intensive care looking after beautiful tiny babies and their incredible families. After a lot of soul-searching I moved away from hospital work, did some private nannying work and became a carer for the most amazing little girl who has cerebral palsy and is the light of my life!

I’ve always loved crafting and my earliest memories are of my Grandma teaching me how to knit and sew when I went to stay at her house. When I was at uni I taught myself to crochet by watching online tutorials (definitely procrastinating my actual uni work) and made a beautiful rainbow blanket which I gave to my Grandma the Christmas before she passed away which is a really special memory for me.

I then stumbled upon macrame plant hangers and wall hangers whilst browsing the aisles of TK Maxx (my second favourite hobby), thought they looked amazing and decided I was going to learn how to macrame! After scouring Pinterest for ideas and dragging my sister in law to the beach to collect driftwood I made my first few pieces and gifted them to friends.

Macrame became my favourite craft as I love how simple it look but it can also be made so personal and unique by using different colours and finishing touches depending on the piece. I love how it looks amazing in any room of the house and also can be used as decor for weddings and events (another career I’ve dabbled in 🙈).
